கடந்த  வாரம்  தமிழ்முரசு  இணைய இதழில்  நான்  எழுதிய  அமரர்  இலக்ஷ்மண  ஐயர்  தொடர்பான  ஆக்கத்திற்கு  இலங்கை,  கனடா, அமெரிக்கா  முதலான  நாடுகளிலிருந்து  மூவர்  தமது  கருத்துக்களை  எழுதியுள்ளனர்.

அவர்கள்  ஆங்கிலத்தில்  அனுப்பியிருந்த  மின்னஞ்சல்களை  தங்கள்  பார்வைக்கு  அனுப்புகின்றேன்.இயலுமானால்   இவற்றை  பதிவுசெய்யமாறு  அன்புடன்  கேட்டுக்கொள்கின்றேன்.

I met Lakshamana Iyer and Paalam a long time ago in Colombo. I still remember his frustration with the Tamil media using kalaachcharam instead of kalasaram!!

I read with much interest your article on Lakshmana Iyer which you have forwarded to me.

I was one of his favorite students for many years when he was my Tamil teacher at Royal College (along with Wigneswaran and others.)

I would credit my Distinction (A) in Tamil Literature at the G.C.E examination & my interest in Tamil due to the coaching I received from him.

I would also like to add the following anecdote in respect of the article you sent about printing errors in newspapers.

He had come to know that I had joined "Virakesari" as a Senior Manager, leaving Lake House.

He called me & spoke to me for some time on various matters.At the end of the conversation he referred to a news item in the "Virakesari" of that day & said the journalist had referred to cold water in the news item as "patchai thanneer".He said "Sivapragasam,water is never green.Than - neer means "kulirmayaana neer".Why add "patchai" and twist the meaning.Now that you are there,please see that such errors do not occur because readers learn from what appears in newspapers & you have a duty to be correct in what you print.
